The Emblem
The coat of arms of the town is the union of the two parts that have formed the city. To the left a tower, symbolizing the castle (Castellanza); to the right a chestnut-tree symbolizing Castegnate. At the time of granting Castellanza the title of “City” (1974), a turreted crown(the city symbol) was added to its coat of arms surmounted by the crown of the municipality (see sidebar). The double crowns coat of arms was later replaced by a unique crown (thatof the city) that you can see at the bottom of the page.
